One of the great things I get to do on a regular basis is to meet wonderful people and sit with them in the comfort of someone’s living room and tell them about some of the many stories I have helped to be published in a book. Without fail the stories and their impact on families brings smiles and often tears to the eyes of those listeners.

It is so wonderful to then watch the participants realize that they have family stories that will be forgotten. They light up when they think about that relative that has lived a life rich in stories. Like a young listener of mine this week, whose thoughts quickly turned to her 80 year old grandmother who lived in France during World War II and how much she must have seen and lived through. She concluded that these wonderful stories and memories will soon be lost as grandmother’s age progresses. Suddenly, the idea of capturing those precious stories of Grandmother’s life becomes an urgent imperative.

I look forward to seeing those stories remain alive in a storybook. I love the idea that technology and my efforts will help to bring immense amounts of joy, laughter and even tears for generations of this family.

Who will remember your stories?

Studio 2.0 is coming! Technical gremlins get in the way!
Many of my clients have been enthusiastic about the planned release of our state-of-the-art new publishing system, Studio 2.0.

In developing this upgrade, we have run into some unforeseen complications with the conversion of projects on our current system to the new Studio 2.0 system. Because we are committed to delivering a fully tested, problem free system, we have postponed the release of Studio 2.0.

In the meantime, our current “Drag and Drop” and classic publishing systems are fully functional and are publishing hundreds of books a day. Updates about the status of the release of Studio 2.0 will be posted online as progress is made.

Where do the children of today find someone that will help shape their lives? Parents play a big role but sometimes the parental relationship has daily highs and lows as parents play their role of rule enforcer. From comic book heroes to sports heroes the media is having a greater impact on children than ever before.

Grandparents and aunts and uncles are often far away and the relationships are distant. Schools are becoming a questionable value in the life of children; struggling to even teach general knowledge let alone values and principles.

Storybooking was created when one mother wanted her children to know the hero in her life, her grandfather. Since then children across the country are discovering heroes and worthy role models within their own families.

Where will your children or grandchildren find heroes in their lives?

Studio 2.0 Delay  Heritage Makers apologizes for the delay in the launch of Studio 2.0…

The current site is back up online until Saturday night; with details posted on the front page under the STUDIO 2.0 UPDATE link.

http://www.heritagemakers.com/studio2Info.cfm

All current site functions are working as before.

We will go forward with today’s (August 23, 7 pm MDT) planned webinar as well so we can show off the system and anticipate the weekend’s launch.

The issue we hit in the final hours before re-launch has to do with data migration from the current system to the new. The new system works great, but we are hitting some snags with old projects. We want to get this right before we re-launch, so we don’t run into major headaches in support.

Thanks for being so patient, it is going to be a fabulous when we get it!

I have been lying awake for hours and just can’t get to sleep. I am so excited for the release of Heritage Maker Studio 2.0 tomorrow morning at 7 am MST.

My mind has been wondering and I started to think about the fabulous Software Design team at Heritage Makers who are probably doing an all nighter, probably two of them in a row since they took the site down last night at 9pm to get ready for the big unveiling of Studio 2.0 first thing Thursday morning.

Our thanks go out to Karl and his team we know we are going to have so much fun using this amazing system. Even testing Beta has been an amazing experience.

Now if I don’t get some rest I will be too tired to play with our new toy tomorrow.

Thanks again guys, I know our clients will love it too!

Last night, Heritage Makers held a Spirit of Heritage meeting here in Phoenix, with more than 140 people in attendance. The excitement and passion for Storybooking at the meeting was amazing to see. What a great thing to be involved with.

Two years after Storybooking came to Arizona it is clear that the train has left the station and is gathering speed. More and more people are discovering the excitement and rewards of Storybooking. The growth rate is fantastic!

What a rewarding sight to see a room overflowing with enthusiastic Storybookers who understand the power of stories and the rewards of preserving them in a Storybook.

I am so excited my dreams are coming alive before my eyes!!!!

Training anytime: Pajamas OK

My sister Averil who lives in England wanted to do a Storybook for her father in-law for his 80th birthday. She had seen my books when she visited the USA for a sister’s reunion we had last summer.

Averil was concerned about beginning this project because she had never done Storybooking before and she really wanted to do something personal as a tribute to the life of this wonderful man and she knew how much. She wanted to do this while he was still living and how much pleasure it would bring him to read. She had each member of his family contribute to the story and express their love and admiration for Denzil her father in-law.

Averil’s fears soon evaporated when we did an online meeting while she sat in her home in Winchester England and I sat at my computer in Phoenix Arizona. To her surprise she was able to see my computer screen from her computer and I was able to walk her through the Storybooking process – she was so excited and it made doing this book so easy, a beautiful tribute book for her father in-law a man she loves and respects.

I must add Denzil was in awe as he sat surrounded by his family on his birthday when he was presented with a beautiful book about his life.

I also have a 73 year old client in another State and she was trying to explain a problem she was having while we were talking over the phone. I couldn’t quite understand her difficulty and what she meant, within a minute I was able to see her computer screen from my computer and help her complete her project – she was so thrilled with the help and totally amazed that I could help her out so easily and she didn’t even have to leasve home to learn how to make her book!

All it takes is a high speed internet connection and a telephone and as easy as 123 I can hold an online meeting with one person or as many as one thousand people.

In my previous blog I talk about my online Workshops and so I thought it would be a good idea to explain a little about g2m – I will be putting a link up on Monday to register for Webinar to demonstrate Heritage Makers state of the art new Digital Scrapbooking and Storybooking System – Heritage Studio 2.0

I love how g2m have revolutionized my Storybooking Business and made it possible to teach anyone anywhere in the world to enjoy making their own Storybooks and Digital Scrapbooks.

I was browsing through Heritage Makers project gallery today and came across a book that I had actually seen before and felt the need to share with others. It is less than one month before the Anniversary of September 11th – funny I am still not comfortable calling that day 9-11 for some crazy reason I feel like abbreviating the date diminishes that day that will never be forgotten.

This book is a beautiful tribute with amazing photos of the day we were attacked by terrorists out of the clear blue sky. Read a short excerpt from the book. Click on the link and read the pdf copy of the entire book it is is an amazing account of that day.
